A starting point for National Savings

National Savings has several product families. Its product page separates savings accounts, certificates, ordinary prize bonds and registered premium bonds, and also lists Islamic savings and term accounts. Begin with the full product name: two products can have different eligibility, access and payment rules even when both are described casually as savings.

Make a one-page product note before comparing a headline return. Include the issuer, who may open or buy it, the minimum amount, the term, when payments arrive and what happens if money is needed early. Add the exact official link and the date you read it. Leave an unknown field blank and ask about it.

Keep prize history separate from a product comparison. Finding that a serial appeared in a past draw is a historical fact about that record. It does not forecast a future draw or tell you whether buying that product suits your needs. The checker is useful for records you want to inspect, not as an expected-return calculator.

Use comparable units. A yearly percentage, a payment every six months and a maturity value are different descriptions. Write the period beside every figure. Also separate gross and net amounts, and distinguish a published term from an assumption you made. A comparison becomes clearer when the unanswered questions are visible.

This first beta does not rank products or maintain a current rate table. Follow the official product page for the terms you need, then use the comparison guide to organise them. An operator review of these guides remains required before audience invitations.
